Cheesy Taco Sticks are a fun and flavorful handheld twist on taco night, featuring seasoned ground beef and melty cheese wrapped in soft pizza dough. Brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden, these stuffed breadsticks are perfect as a party snack, weeknight dinner, or appetizer the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean or higher)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or fresh)
  • 5 cheddar cheese sticks, halved
  • 5 Colby Jack cheese sticks, halved
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly spray a large baking sheet with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned. Drain fat, stir in taco seasoning (without water), and let cool slightly.
  3. On a floured surface, roll pizza dough into a large rectangle. Cut in half lengthwise, then into 10 equal rectangles.
  4. Spoon a portion of taco meat onto the center of each dough rectangle and top with half a cheese stick (alternating cheddar and Colby Jack).
  5. Roll the dough over the filling and pinch the seams tightly to seal.
  6. In a bowl, mix melted butter with garlic powder and parsley. Brush the mixture over each taco stick.
  7. Arrange taco sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Serve warm with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
  • Crescent roll or biscuit dough works well for a shortcut.
  • Enhance with add-ins like corn, black beans, or chopped jalapeños.
  • Cheese sticks melt more evenly than shredded cheese and are easier to work with.
