Soft, fluffy dinner rolls infused with fresh garlic and herbs, then brushed with a rich garlic butter. Perfect as a side dish for any meal, especially during holidays or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (plus more for brushing)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or mixed herbs (such as thyme and rosemary)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and sprinkle in the yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and minced garlic.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape into rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While baking, melt additional butter and mix with chopped herbs and more minced garlic.
  10. Brush warm rolls with garlic herb butter immediately after baking. Sprinkle with extra herbs or flaky salt if desired.
