Air Fryer Kale Chips are a quick, crispy, and healthy snack made with just a few ingredients. These light, crunchy chips are a great alternative to traditional snacks and can be seasoned in endless ways to match your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch fresh kale (curly or lacinato), stems removed and torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 12 teaspoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • Optional: pinch of chili flakes or cayenne pepper
  • Optional: lemon zest or grated parmesan for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the kale leaves to remove all moisture.
  2. Remove the tough stems and tear the kale into even-sized, bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a bowl, toss the kale with oil and desired seasonings until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Place the kale in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 3–5 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the kale is crispy but not burned.
  7. Remove and let cool slightly before serving. The chips will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Notes

  • Ensure the kale is completely dry before cooking to get crispy chips.
  • Use just a small amount of oil—too much can make the chips soggy.
  • Customize seasonings based on your taste preferences.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for best results.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but can be refreshed in the air fryer if needed.
