This Amish Hamburger Steak Bake is the definition of simple, hearty comfort food—tender seasoned beef patties baked in a creamy mushroom sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and sure to satisfy the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, and eggs. Mix just until combined.
  3. Form into 6 oval patties and place in baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.
  5. Pour sauce over patties, covering evenly.
  6. Cover dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Add fresh sliced mushrooms to the sauce for extra texture.
  • Try cream of onion or celery soup for a variation.
  • Top with shredded cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  • Make it low-carb by using almond flour or pork rinds instead of breadcrumbs.
  • Add dried herbs like parsley or thyme to the beef mixture for added flavor.
