Baked Brie in a Bread Bowl with Cranberry Sauce and Thyme is a show-stopping appetizer featuring creamy, melted Brie cheese baked inside a crusty bread bowl and topped with tangy cranberry sauce and fresh thyme. Perfect for holidays or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1 round loaf of bread (sourdough or rustic boule)
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese (8 oz to 12 oz)
  • 1/3 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch wall and bottom to form a bowl.
  3. Place the Brie wheel inside the hollowed bread. Trim the cheese if needed to fit.
  4. Spoon cranberry sauce over the Brie and sprinkle with fresh thyme.
  5. Brush the outside of the bread bowl with olive oil or melted butter, and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the Brie is melted and bread is golden.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with bread cubes, crackers, or apple slices.

Notes

  • Swap cranberry sauce with fig jam or apricot preserves for a sweeter twist.
  • Top with chopped walnuts or pecans for added crunch.
  • Roasted garlic adds depth for a more savory flavor.
  • Drizzle with hot honey for a spicy-sweet combo.
  • Camembert is a great substitute for Brie.
