  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried thyme
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Optional: 1 tbsp chopped parsley, for garnish
  • Optional: Lemon slices, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning (or thyme).
  3. In a bowl, combine melted butter, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, and chicken broth.
  4. Place the chicken in the baking dish and pour the lemon butter sauce over it. Add lemon slices on top if desired.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
  6. Spoon the sauce over the chicken before serving and garnish with fresh parsley if using.

Notes

  • Add a splash of white wine for deeper flavor.
  • Stir in Dijon mustard for a tangy variation.
  • Add cream or sour cream at the end for a creamy version.
  • Use bone-in chicken thighs with adjusted cook time if preferred.
  • Double the sauce if serving with sides to soak it up.
