These Air Fryer Apple Fritters are a healthier take on a classic fair-style dessert—crispy on the outside, soft and cinnamon-spiced on the inside, and finished with a sweet vanilla glaze. Made in just 30 minutes, this easy air fryer recipe is perfect for fall, quick desserts, or cozy weekend breakfasts.

Ingredients

  • For the Fritters:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk (any kind)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups apples, peeled and diced (about ¼-inch pieces)
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 12 tsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Dice apples into ¼-inch cubes and toss with lemon juice.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in apples.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Drop 2-tbsp mounds of batter onto a greased or parchment-lined air fryer basket, spacing slightly apart.
  6. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Mix icing sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
  8. Drizzle glaze over warm fritters and let set before serving.

Notes

  • Use Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Pink Lady apples for best texture.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer; cook in batches if needed.
  • Skip the glaze or try a cinnamon sugar coating for a different finish.
  • For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • Add chopped pecans, nutmeg, or swap apples for pears for variation.
