Brie with Sweet & Tart Cranberries is a warm, melty appetizer that combines creamy brie with a vibrant cranberry topping—perfect for the holidays or any cozy gathering. Quick to prepare and effortlessly elegant, it’s always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1 wheel of brie
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 23 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice or 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon cinnamon or allspice
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Optional: 1 sheet puff pastry or crescent dough, thawed
  • Crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment or use a small baking dish.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, brown sugar or maple syrup, orange juice or zest, and optional spices. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until cranberries burst and mixture thickens. Stir in nuts if using. Let cool slightly.
  3. Place brie on the prepared baking sheet or in a dish. Spoon the cranberry mixture on top.
  4. If using puff pastry: wrap the brie, seal edges, and brush with egg wash.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes (unwrapped) or 20–25 minutes (wrapped) until brie is soft and melty.
  6. Serve immediately with crackers, bread, or fruit slices.

Notes

  • Make the cranberry topping ahead and store it in the fridge.
  • Use fig jam or apricot preserves instead of cranberries for variety.
  • Top with caramelized onions and herbs for a savory version.
  • Camembert or goat cheese can be used as alternatives to brie.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven at 300°F.
