Chili Garlic Beef and Spinach Stir-Fry is a fast and flavorful weeknight dinner made with tender beef, fresh spinach, and a bold stir-fry sauce. It’s spicy, garlicky, and perfectly balanced, all ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce (or sambal oelek)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 5 oz fresh baby spinach
  • 12 tbsp neutral cooking oil (canola or vegetable)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, vinegar, and sesame oil to make the stir-fry sauce.
  2. Heat cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  3. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes, until browned but tender. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add a bit more garlic if desired, then toss in the spinach and cook until wilted, about 1–2 minutes.
  5. Return the beef to the pan, pour in the stir-fry sauce, and toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until well coated and heated through.
  6. Serve hot over rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if using.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for best tenderness.
  • Adjust chili garlic sauce for spice level preference.
  • Substitute spinach with bok choy, kale, or broccoli.
  • Chicken or shrimp can be used instead of beef.
  • Prep sauce and slice meat ahead of time for faster cooking.
