Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is a warm, gooey dessert baked in a cast iron skillet with crispy golden edges and a soft center packed with melty chocolate chips. Perfect for topping with ice cream and sharing—if you want to!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened or melted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
  • Optional: extra chocolate chips or flaky salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or butter an 8- or 10-inch cast iron skillet.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Press the dough evenly into the prepared skillet.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until edges are golden and center is just set. Bake less for a gooier center.
  8. Cool slightly, then serve warm with a scoop of ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Add chopped nuts, peanut butter, or white/dark chocolate chips for variation.
  • Swirl in caramel or top with flaky sea salt for extra flavor.
  • Make ahead by preparing dough and chilling until ready to bake.
  • Use a cake pan if you don’t have a cast iron skillet.
