Crispy golden wonton bites filled with creamy cheesecake and sweet strawberries, deep-fried to perfection and dusted with powdered sugar. These indulgent treats deliver a delightful crunch on the outside and a smooth, fruity filling inside.

Ingredients

  • 2024 wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 23 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gently fold in the finely chopped strawberries.
  3. Lay the wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
  4. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  5. Lightly brush the edges with water, fold into a triangle, and press firmly to seal, removing any air pockets.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the wontons in small batches for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  9. Once slightly cooled, dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Add mini chocolate chips to the filling for extra richness.
  • Substitute strawberries with raspberries or blueberries for variety.
  • For a lighter option, brush with oil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  • Do not overfill the wrappers to prevent leaking during frying.
  • Freeze uncooked wontons on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag and fry from frozen, adding extra cooking time.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer at 350°F to restore crispness.
