An easy cinnamon‑orange simmer pot that fills your home with cozy, warm citrus‑spice aroma. Just slice some fruit and add spices to water — simmer gently for hours for a natural, chemical-free home scent.

Ingredients

  • 1 orange, sliced (fresh or with peel)
  • 23 cinnamon sticks
  • 12 teaspoons whole cloves
  • Optional: 2–3 star anise, 1–2 sprigs fresh rosemary or a few bay leaves
  • 45 cups of water (or enough to cover ingredients in pot)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a medium saucepan and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to low to maintain a simmer.
  3. Let simmer, uncovered, for 1–4 hours (or as long as desired), checking every 30–45 minutes to top up with water so it doesn’t dry out.
  4. Enjoy the fragrance filling your home. Add water as needed to keep the simmer going.

Notes

  • Add apple slices or cranberries for a fruitier scent.
  • For seasonal variations: add a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of vanilla for warmth; swap orange for lemon and add fresh mint or thyme for spring vibes.
  • You can reuse the mixture — once cooled, refrigerate and reheat with fresh water within 2–3 days. The scent will mellow but remains pleasant.
  • Never leave the simmer pot unattended — always monitor the water level and turn off if you leave the house.
