These Easy One Bowl Fudgy Cocoa Brownies are rich, chewy, and chocolatey with a shiny top and dense center—made with simple pantry staples and ready in under 45 minutes with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. While warm, stir in sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract, then add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each.
  4. Add flour and stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Use natural or Dutch-processed cocoa based on your flavor preference.
  • Don’t overbake to maintain fudgy texture—look for moist crumbs on the toothpick.
  • Chill before slicing for cleaner edges.
  • Top with flaky sea salt for extra flavor depth.
  • Freeze leftovers wrapped tightly for up to 2 months.
