Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
    • Warm milk
    • Active dry yeast
    • Sugar
    • All-purpose flour
    • Salt
    • Melted butter
    • Egg
  • For the Garlic Butter Topping:
    • Butter
    • Garlic, minced
    • Fresh parsley, chopped
    • Sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let sit 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Make Dough: Add flour, salt, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead: Knead with dough hook (or by hand) until smooth and elastic, 10–12 minutes.
  4. First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Shape Rolls: Grease a 9″x13″ pan. Punch down dough, divide into 12 equal pieces, and roll into smooth balls. Arrange in pan. Cover and let rise 1–2 hours until puffy.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush rolls with egg wash. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Make Garlic Butter: While baking, melt butter in saucepan, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant.
  8. Finish: Brush warm rolls generously with garlic butter, sprinkle with parsley and flaky sea salt. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Add grated Parmesan before baking for cheesy garlic rolls.
  • Use fresh thyme or rosemary for different herbal flavors.
  • Whole wheat flour will yield denser rolls.
  • To freeze, store baked rolls up to 3 months; thaw and reheat before serving.
