Garlic Parmesan Pasta is a quick, comforting dish made with simple ingredients like garlic, cream, and Parmesan. It’s perfect for busy nights and can be easily customized with vegetables or protein.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta of choice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in well-salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil or melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute, without browning.
  4. Pour in the cream or milk and warm gently.
  5. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to thin the sauce.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss until well coated in the sauce.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra texture and flavor.
  • Grilled chicken or shrimp can be added for protein.
  • A mix of Parmesan and Pecorino Romano gives a sharper flavor.
  • Use low heat when adding cheese to avoid a grainy sauce.
  • Skip red pepper flakes for a kid-friendly version.
