Grilled Shrimp Skewers are a quick, flavorful, and healthy dish made with marinated shrimp grilled to perfection. Ideal for weeknight dinners, summer barbecues, or light appetizers, they’re juicy, smoky, and customizable with various flavor twists.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Wooden or metal skewers
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes or chili powder

Instructions

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add optional chili flakes if desired.
  3. Add shrimp to the marinade and let sit for 15–30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Thread shrimp onto skewers, about 4–6 per skewer depending on size.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  6. Grill shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use lime juice and honey for a sweet-spicy variation.
  • Brush with BBQ sauce in the last minute of grilling for smoky flavor.
  • Add pineapple chunks between shrimp for a tropical twist.
  • Can be cooked indoors on a grill pan, skillet, or broiled in the oven.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be eaten cold over salads.
