  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons sliced almonds (optional)

  4. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer and spread gently.
  5. Layer half of the pudding mixture over the cherries and smooth evenly.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes, cherry pie filling, and pudding mixture.
  7. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the final layer.
  8. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top if using.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving to allow the layers to set.

Notes

  • For best results, prepare the cake a day in advance to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Substitute cherry pie filling with blueberry, strawberry, or mixed berry filling for variety.
  • Use stabilized homemade whipped cream in place of whipped topping if preferred.
  • Keep refrigerated and covered for up to 3 days.
  • Do not freeze, as the texture may change after thawing.
