A soft, moist homemade strawberry cake made with real strawberries for natural flavor and color, perfect for celebrations or anytime you want a fresh, cheerful dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and pureed
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. Puree the strawberries until smooth and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Add the dry ingredients gradually, alternating with the milk and strawberry puree, mixing just until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before frosting or serving.
