Lemon Pepper Wings are crispy, zesty, and full of bold flavor with a bright lemon finish and a subtle pepper kick. Perfect for game day, family dinners, or casual gatherings, these wings are versatile and crowd-pleasing.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, toss wings with baking powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon pepper seasoning until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  5. While wings bake, melt butter or warm olive oil and mix with lemon juice and zest if using.
  6. Once wings are done, toss them in the lemon butter mixture for a “wet” finish, or serve dry for classic crispy lemon pepper wings.

Notes

  • Dry wings are seasoned only with lemon pepper; wet wings are tossed in lemon butter after cooking.
  • Add garlic powder or a pinch of cayenne for extra flavor and heat.
  • Broil for the last 2–3 minutes for extra crispiness.
  • Store leftover wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes to maintain crispiness.
