This Old School Easy Brown Sugar Peach Cobbler is a buttery, no-fuss dessert layered with juicy peaches, warm cinnamon, and a rich brown sugar batter. Perfectly golden and crisp on top with a soft, fluffy center, it’s the ultimate comfort dessert for summer.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 cups fresh ripe peaches, sliced
  • 23 tbsp additional brown sugar (for peaches)
  • Optional: 2 tbsp maple syrup + 2 tbsp softened butter + pinch sea salt (for maple butter)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and set in oven to melt and lightly brown.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Add milk and vanilla, stirring until smooth.
  3. Toss sliced peaches with 2–3 tablespoons brown sugar to release their juices.
  4. Remove the hot baking dish from the oven. Layer half the peaches over the melted butter.
  5. Pour the batter evenly over the peaches (do not stir). Top with the remaining peaches.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown, bubbling, and crisp around the edges.
  7. If using maple butter, mix softened butter, maple syrup, and sea salt. Spoon over cobbler before serving.
  8. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use canned or frozen peaches if fresh aren’t available—just thaw and drain them first.
  • Add chopped pecans or sliced almonds before baking for added crunch.
  • Stir a splash of bourbon into the peaches for depth of flavor.
  • Add nutmeg or ginger along with cinnamon for more spice.
  • Use dairy-free butter and plant-based milk for a vegan version.
