This quick and easy potsticker sauce is savory, tangy, and perfect for dumplings, egg rolls, or rice bowls. Made in just 5 minutes with pantry staples like soy sauce, vinegar, and sesame oil, it’s better than takeout and completely customizable.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1½ tablespoons rice vinegar (or Chinese black vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or honey)
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Stir in sliced green onions.
  3. Sprinkle red pepper flakes and sesame seeds on top, if using.
  4. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • Add grated garlic or ginger for more complexity.
  • Adjust heat with more or less red pepper flakes or a dash of chili oil.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute tamari for soy sauce.
  • Honey or brown sugar can be used instead of white sugar for different sweetness.
