This quick and easy sweet potato casserole is a cozy, lightly sweetened side dish featuring creamy spiced sweet potatoes topped with a golden pecan crumble. It’s perfect for holidays or weeknight comfort, and it comes together in under 40 minutes.

Ingredients

  • For the filling:
  • 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • For the topping:
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp softened butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar or maple syrup, eggs, melted butter, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  3. Pour mixture into the prepared dish and smooth the top.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine pecans, brown sugar, flour, and softened butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle topping evenly over sweet potato mixture.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is set.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
