Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks.

  3. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.
  4. Simmer the mixture for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine and the sauce to slightly thicken.
  5. Serve the beef mixture over bowls of warm cooked rice.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
