Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a cast iron skillet or oven-safe pan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and spread the dough evenly in the skillet.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is still soft.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to keep the center gooey.
  • Let the cookie rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
  • Great served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • You can add nuts or swirl in peanut butter or caramel.
