Ingredients
6 large apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious), peeled, cored, and sliced into wedges
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
3 tbsp unsalted butter, sliced
Instructions
Peel, core, and slice apples into thick wedges.
Add apples to the slow cooker.
In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the apples.
Drizzle lemon juice and apple juice (or cider) on top.
Dot the apples with butter slices.
Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, or until apples are tender but not mushy.
Stir gently before serving to coat apples in the syrupy sauce.
