Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (plus more for stuffing)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning (optional)
  • 1 box (6 oz) stuffing mix (like Stove Top)
  • 4 tbsp melted butter (for stuffing)
  • 1/23/4 cup chicken broth (to moisten stuffing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Sauté onion and celery in 4 tbsp butter over medium heat until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, sautéed veggies, 1/2 cup chicken broth, poultry seasoning (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread chicken mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix stuffing with melted butter and enough broth to moisten (about 1/2–3/4 cup).
  6. Spread stuffing evenly over the chicken layer.
  7. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling.
  8. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Add frozen peas or green beans for more vegetables.
  • Substitute turkey for chicken if desired.
  • Use homemade stuffing instead of boxed for a more rustic version.
  • Mix in shredded cheddar or Swiss for a cheesy variation.
  • This dish can be made ahead and baked later — perfect for meal prep.
