Festive chocolate brownies cut into Christmas tree shapes and decorated with green frosting, sprinkles, and candy canes—perfect for holiday fun and gifting.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • Green frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Assorted holiday sprinkles
  • Candy stars or mini M&Ms
  • Candy canes (cut into 1- to 2-inch pieces for the tree trunks)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Stir dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  7. Lift brownies out of the pan using the parchment and cut into horizontal strips. Slice each strip diagonally into triangles to form tree shapes.
  8. Pipe green frosting in a zig-zag pattern over each triangle to resemble branches.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles and candy stars, and insert a piece of candy cane into the base of each brownie triangle for the tree trunk.

Notes

  • You can use a box brownie mix to save time.
  • Add peppermint extract or crushed candy canes for a seasonal flavor boost.
  • Make them gluten-free with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Use pretzel sticks instead of candy canes for trunks.
  • Brownies can be made a day ahead and decorated later.
