Turkuterie is a festive, turkey-shaped charcuterie board perfect for Thanksgiving. It creatively combines deli meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, crackers, and more to form a stunning, edible centerpiece. Ideal as a pre-dinner appetizer or party platter, it’s customizable, fun to make, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz sliced deli turkey (rolled or folded)
  • 6 oz assorted cheeses (cheddar cubes, brie wedges, mozzarella balls, or festive cut shapes)
  • 2 cups assorted crackers and breadsticks
  • 1 cup fresh fruits (grapes, apple slices, dried cranberries, or pomegranate seeds)
  • 1 cup fresh vegetables (carrot sticks, cucumber rounds, cherry tomatoes)
  • 1/2 cup nuts (almonds, pecans, or candied walnuts)
  • 1/4 cup olives or pickles
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or sage leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start with a large serving board or tray as your base.
  2. Place a small bowl of dip or a cheese ball near the bottom center as the turkey’s body.
  3. Arrange folded deli turkey in a fan shape starting from the center.
  4. Layer ‘feathers’ in semicircles above the turkey using crackers, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables, alternating colors and textures.
  5. Create a face using a cheese round or pear slice, adding olive pieces for eyes and red pepper for the wattle.
  6. Fill in gaps with nuts, dried fruits, and herb sprigs for decoration.
  7. Chill until ready to serve, especially if including soft cheeses or meats.

Notes

  • Customize the layout with sweet or savory items to match the occasion.
  • Pre-slice and portion ingredients the night before to save time.
  • Use gluten-free or dairy-free options as needed for dietary preferences.
  • Make it kid-friendly with fun-shaped cheeses, apple slices with peanut butter, and crackers.
  • No reheating required—serve chilled or at room temperature.
