The ultimate cheesy ground beef melt is a rich and satisfying sandwich that layers seasoned ground beef with gooey melted cheese between two slices of crispy, golden bread. It’s fast, filling, and full of savory flavor—perfect for lunch, dinner, or anytime comfort food cravings hit.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or provolone/mozzarella)
  • 68 slices thick-cut bread (sourdough, sandwich bread, or Texas toast)
  • 23 tbsp butter or mayonnaise (for toasting)
  • Optional: pickles, jalapeños, mustard, or hot sauce for layering

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  2. Add chopped onions and garlic; sauté until softened and fragrant.
  3. Season the beef with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and cook for another minute. Remove from heat.
  4. Wipe skillet clean if needed. Butter one side of each slice of bread (or spread with mayo).
  5. On the unbuttered side of a slice, layer cheese, beef mixture, and more cheese. Top with another slice, buttered side out.
  6. Place the sandwich in the skillet over medium-low heat and grill for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden and the cheese is melted.
  7. Repeat with remaining sandwiches. Let rest for a minute, slice, and serve hot.
