Ultimate Chocolate Chip Dream Cookies are soft, chewy, and loaded with gooey chocolate chips, with perfectly crisp edges and buttery flavor. A nostalgic classic, they’re easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips (or chunks)
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  7. Scoop dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place on prepared baking sheet, spaced apart.
  8. Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are just set.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For added depth, mix milk, dark, and white chocolate chips.
  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt before baking for a sweet-salty twist.
  • Chill dough 30–60 minutes for thicker, chewier cookies.
  • Freeze dough balls for up to 2 months and bake straight from frozen, adding 1–2 minutes to bake time.
