Ingredients

Tilapia and Seasonings

  • 4 fillets tilapia
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Sauce and Garnish

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 lemon, juice only

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter: Melt the unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat until fully melted and starting to bubble gently.
  2. Add Garlic and Red Pepper Flakes: Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes into the butter, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Season Tilapia: While the garlic is cooking, season the tilapia fillets on both sides with salt and pepper to your taste preference.
  4. Cook Tilapia: Place the seasoned tilapia fillets carefully into the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Finish with Lemon Juice: Just before serving, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the cooked tilapia fillets and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for a burst of fresh flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; minced garlic from a jar can work but may alter the taste.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level or omit for a milder dish.
  • Serve the tilapia over steamed rice or alongside sautéed vegetables to make a complete meal.
  • Ensure not to overcook the tilapia to keep it moist and flaky.
