A quick and delicious Burrata Toast recipe featuring creamy burrata cheese on toasted sourdough or focaccia bread, enhanced with a flavorful hot honey drizzle, fresh thyme, lemon zest, and a hint of garlic. Perfect for a light meal or snack ready in just 7 minutes.

Ingredients

Bread & Toasting

  • 2 thick slices of bread (sourdough or focaccia are great)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Cheese & Toppings

  • 1 ball of burrata
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey sauce (or mix 2 tablespoons honey with 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes)
  • 1 lemon, zested
  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon flaky salt

Flavouring

  • 1 garlic clove, peeled

Instructions

  1. Toast your bread: Toast the bread slices using your preferred method—whether in a toaster, a pan, or the oven. If pan-toasting, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat in a pan wide enough for the bread. Drizzle olive oil on the exposed side of each bread slice, place them in the pan, and toast for a couple of minutes before flipping to toast the other side for an additional minute. For oven toasting, preheat the grill (broiler) to 200°C (393°F), drizzle olive oil on both sides of the bread, place them on an oven tray under the grill, toast for a few minutes, flip, and grill the other side.
  2. Rub garlic on toast: Slice the garlic clove in half and rub the cut side over each toasted bread slice. This imparts a subtle, lovely garlic flavor without being overpowering.
  3. Assemble the toast: Tear the burrata ball into pieces and spread evenly over each slice of toast.
  4. Add hot honey and garnishes: Drizzle 1 tablespoon of hot honey sauce over the burrata on each toast slice. Finish by sprinkling fresh thyme leaves, lemon zest, and flaky salt to elevate the flavor.
  5. Serve immediately: Enjoy the burrata toast right away while the bread is still warm and the flavors fresh.

Notes

  • For a homemade hot honey, mix honey with chili flakes to taste.
  • Use fresh thyme leaves rather than woody stems for best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the amount of chili flakes in the hot honey to control the spice level.
  • Best served immediately to enjoy the cheese at fresh softness and bread crispness.
  • Try different breads like ciabatta or rustic country loaves for variety.
