This Easy Creamy Beef and Shells recipe is a quick and comforting pasta dish featuring tender shells tossed in a rich, savory meat sauce enhanced with a hint of cream. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it combines ground beef, tomato sauce, and a splash of heavy cream for a deliciously creamy finish.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 ounces medium uncooked shells

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 (14 ounce) can tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Boil water and cook the shells until al dente as per package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Onion: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion for about 5 minutes, allowing it to soften and brown slightly for added flavor.
  3. Brown Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet with onions and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon until browned. Remove excess fat if necessary.
  4. Add Seasonings and Liquids: Stir in minced garlic and chili powder, then pour in the tomato sauce and beef broth. Reduce heat to a gentle simmer and cook for 4-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly but does not dry out.
  5. Finish with Cream: Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the cream warm through in the sauce.
  6. Combine and Serve: Toss the creamy meat sauce with the drained pasta shells and serve immediately for a comforting meal.
