Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.6 oz. (75g) spelt flakes
  • 2.6 oz. (75g) rolled oats
  • 0.5 oz. (15g) almonds or hazelnuts, sliced
  • 2 tbsp. mixed seeds
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. vanilla powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1.8 oz. (50g) organic coconut oil, melted
  • 1.8 oz. (50g) maple syrup (or honey)

Additional

  • 1.8 oz. (50g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • Baking paper to line the air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the spelt flakes, rolled oats, sliced almonds or hazelnuts, mixed seeds, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla powder until evenly distributed.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Briefly melt the coconut oil in the microwave until liquid, then pour it into the bowl along with the maple syrup. Stir well until the mixture is uniformly wet and has an even chocolatey appearance.
  3. Prepare Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 170°C (340°F). Line the air fryer basket with baking paper to prevent sticking and spreading the granola evenly across the paper. If your basket is small, plan to bake in two batches.
  4. Air Fry the Granola: Cook the granola in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes total. Stir the granola several times during cooking to ensure even baking and avoid burning. This will help achieve a crispy texture all around.
  5. Cool the Granola: Once cooked, remove the granola from the air fryer and allow it to cool completely. Cooling will help it crisp up further.
  6. Add Chocolate: After the granola has cooled, mix in the chopped semi-sweet chocolate so it melts slightly and blends into the granola clusters.
  7. Store Properly: Transfer your finished granola into a well-sealing glass jar or airtight container. It will stay fresh and tasty for at least two weeks when stored in a cool, dry place.

Notes

  • You can substitute honey for maple syrup if preferred.
  • If your air fryer basket is small, dividing the granola into two batches ensures even cooking.
  • Use baking paper specifically designed for air fryers or regular parchment paper cut to size.
  • Stir the granola multiple times during air frying to avoid burning and ensure uniform crispiness.
  • This granola is vegetarian but not vegan due to the inclusion of honey (can be substituted with maple syrup to make vegan).
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crunch.
