This Easy Peach Crisp Recipe combines juicy, spiced peach slices with a buttery, crumbly oat topping baked to golden perfection. Perfectly balanced with cinnamon and lemon juice, this classic dessert is delightful served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 6 medium peaches (about 4 cups), peeled and sliced
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Topping

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peaches: Peel the peaches, cut them into slices, and place them in a large mixing bowl to begin creating the filling.
  2. Season the peaches: Add sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon to the sliced peaches. Toss gently until all slices are evenly coated with the mixture for balanced flavor.
  3. Arrange peaches in baking dish: Grease an 8-10 inch round baking dish and spread the coated peach slices evenly inside, forming the base layer of the crisp.
  4. Make the topping: In a separate large bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, salt, and flour. Cut in the softened butter using a fork or pastry cutter, mixing until the topping is crumbly and well incorporated.
  5. Assemble and bake: Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the peaches in the baking dish. Place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 40 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. For best results, top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.

Notes

  • To peel peaches easily, score an X at the bottom and blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds, then transfer to ice water for quick peeling.
  • You can substitute brown sugar with coconut sugar for a different flavor profile.
  • If peaches are out of season, frozen thawed peaches work well too, just reduce lemon juice slightly to avoid excess tartness.
  • For a gluten-free version, replace all-purpose flour with almond flour or gluten-free flour blend.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
