Ingredients

Salad Ingredients

  • 2 big ripe avocados, cut into quarters then 1 cm (0.4″) slices
  • 3 cucumbers (~17 cm / 7″ long), sliced into 4 mm (1/6″) rounds
  • 1/4 red onion, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp dill, finely chopped (optional but recommended)
  • 2 tbsp coriander/cilantro leaves, roughly chopped (optional but recommended)
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp lime juice (or lemon juice, adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp chilli flakes / red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp cooking / kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the avocado slices, cucumber rounds, finely sliced red onion, chopped dill, and cilantro leaves in a large bowl. These fresh ingredients form the base of your salad.
  2. Add Dressing and Season: Drizzle the lime juice and extra virgin olive oil over the salad ingredients. Sprinkle the kosher salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes on top to add seasoning and a subtle heat.
  3. Toss Gently: Using your hands, gently toss the salad to evenly coat the ingredients with the dressing and seasonings. Be careful to separate the avocado slices delicately to maintain their shape.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Sample the salad and add more lime juice if desired to enhance the acidity and brightness of the flavors.
  5. Serve: Transfer the tossed salad into a serving bowl and enjoy immediately for the freshest taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm avocados to avoid mushiness.
  • Fresh dill and coriander are optional but add wonderful herbal notes.
  • Adjust lime juice and chili flakes to preferred taste levels.
  • Serve immediately to prevent avocado browning.
