Refreshing and sweet homemade orangeade made with freshly squeezed orange and lemon juices combined with a simple syrup and chilled water, perfect for a hot day.

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar

Orangeade

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 ½ cups freshly squeezed orange juice
  • ⅓ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Make Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water and 1 ½ cups of white sugar to a boil. Let it cook for 3 minutes while stirring to dissolve the sugar completely, creating a clear simple syrup.
  2. Mix Orangeade: In a large pitcher, combine the prepared simple syrup with 6 cups of cold water, 1 ½ cups of freshly squeezed orange juice, and ⅓ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir well to mix all ingredients evenly.
  3. Chill: Refrigerate the combined orangeade mixture until it is thoroughly cold, typically for at least 1 hour, before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar amount if you prefer a less sweet orangeade.
  • Freshly squeezed juices provide the best flavor compared to store-bought juices.
  • You can add ice cubes when serving to keep the drink cold longer.
  • For an extra twist, garnish with fresh orange or lemon slices.
