These healthy blueberry bagels are quick and easy to prepare using just three simple ingredients plus an optional egg wash. Cooked to perfection in the air fryer, they come out fluffy with a delightful burst of blueberries, making them an ideal wholesome breakfast or snack option for the whole family.

Ingredients

Regular Blueberry Bagels

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • ½ cup frozen wild blueberries
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)

Gluten-Free Blueberry Bagels

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup gluten free measure-for-measure flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ cup frozen wild blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F and allow it to preheat while you prepare the dough.
  2. Mix Dough: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and flour (self-rising for regular, gluten free flour + baking powder for gluten-free). Mix until the dough forms a chunky consistency, then gently fold in the frozen blueberries using a fork.
  3. Knead Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until smooth and no longer sticky. If sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
  4. Shape Bagels: Press the dough into a disc and divide it into 4 equal parts. Roll each part into a 6-inch long log, then join the ends firmly to form a bagel shape.
  5. Apply Egg Wash: Whisk the egg with a splash of water or milk, then brush the egg wash over the tops and sides of each bagel for a golden finish (optional).
  6. Prepare Air Fryer Basket: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or place an air fryer liner to prevent sticking. Arrange the bagels inside without letting them touch.
  7. Cook Bagels: Air fry the bagels at 350°F for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the bagels from the air fryer and let them cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh blueberries for frozen if preferred, but no need to thaw them before mixing.
  • To make gluten-free bagels, use gluten-free flour with baking powder instead of self-rising flour.
  • The egg wash is optional but helps achieve a glossy golden crust.
  • Add a bit more flour during kneading if dough feels too sticky to handle.
  • Serve the bagels fresh for best texture and flavor; leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated gently.
