Perfect for game days, parties, or casual gatherings, this recipe delivers a satisfying combination of creamy, spicy, and savory flavors baked to bubbly perfection.

Ingredients

For the Nachos:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)
  • 1 bag tortilla chips (about 10-12 ounces)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained (optional)
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)

For Toppings:

  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Sliced green onions
  • Chopped fresh cilantro
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced olives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent. Then add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Stir in the taco seasoning according to package instructions, usually adding some water, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mixture is flavorful and heated through.
  2. Assemble the Nachos: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet or oven-safe dish. Layer the cooked beef mixture over the chips, then sprinkle black beans and jalapeño slices if using. Finally, generously top with shredded cheese to cover all the ingredients.
  3. Bake Nachos: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, ensuring all layers are warmed through.
  4. Serve: Remove the nachos from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Add your desired toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, diced tomatoes, green onions, fresh cilantro, and sliced olives. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispy and cheesy goodness.

Notes

  • You can customize the toppings based on your preferences or dietary needs.
  • For a spicier kick, add more jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • The black beans are optional but add a nice texture and extra protein.
  • Use a good quality shredded cheese blend for the best melting and flavor.
  • If you want to save time, use pre-cooked or leftover ground beef.
  • Serve with extra salsa or hot sauce on the side for added flavor.
