Ingredients

Base Layers

  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup salsa (preferably chunky)

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

To Serve

  • Blue corn tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Spread Refried Beans: Evenly spread the refried beans on the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish or a similarly sized serving dish to create a solid base layer.
  2. Layer Sour Cream: Gently layer the sour cream over the refried beans to add creaminess and contrast in texture.
  3. Spread Guacamole: Carefully spread the guacamole on top of the sour cream, maintaining even coverage to add richness and color.
  4. Add Salsa Layer: Spread a generous, even layer of chunky salsa over the guacamole for a flavor-packed topping.
  5. Sprinkle Cheddar Cheese: Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the salsa to add a sharp, melty layer.
  6. Add Cherry Tomatoes: Place halved cherry tomatoes on top of the cheese to provide a fresh, vibrant red pop of color.
  7. Top with Black Olives: Arrange sliced black olives over the tomatoes to introduce savory contrast and texture.
  8. Garnish with Green Onions and Cilantro: Scatter chopped green onions and optional fresh cilantro on top for a fresh, herbaceous finish.
  9. Chill: Cover the assembled dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
  10. Serve with Chips: Serve the layered dip chilled with blue corn tortilla chips for scooping and enjoying.

Notes

  • Use a 9-inch pie dish or a similarly sized shallow dish for optimal layering and presentation.
  • For best texture, use chunky salsa rather than smooth salsa.
  • The cilantro is optional; omit if not preferred or substitute with parsley.
  • Keep the dip refrigerated until serving to maintain freshness.
  • Blue corn tortilla chips add a patriotic color element, but regular tortilla chips work as well.
