This refreshing Watermelon Slushie Recipe is a perfect healthy treat for hot summer days, made with only four wholesome ingredients. It combines frozen seedless watermelon, maple syrup, lime juice, and fresh mint or basil for a naturally sweet and tangy slushie, blended to a thick, icy consistency that’s cool and revitalizing.

Ingredients

Watermelon Slushie Ingredients

  • 10 cups Seedless Watermelon Cubes, frozen for at least 24 hours
  • 2-4 tbsp Maple Syrup*
  • Juice of 1 large Lime
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint or Basil leaves, loosely packed (Optional, but recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cups Filtered Water (see notes for a fun substitution!)

Instructions

  1. Defrost the Watermelon: Let the frozen watermelon chunks sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly for easier blending.
  2. Combine Ingredients in Blender: Add the defrosted watermelon, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, lime juice, fresh mint or basil leaves, and filtered water into a high-speed blender.
  3. Blend to Slushie Consistency: Pulse the blender until the watermelon starts breaking up, then blend continuously until a thick, slushie-like texture forms. Adjust the sweetness by adding more maple syrup if desired and thin the mixture with extra water if it is too thick.
  4. Serve: Divide the watermelon slushie equally into 4 glasses. Serve immediately and enjoy this refreshing drink!

Notes

  • If you do not have a blender with a tamper, use a food processor instead to break up the frozen watermelon.
  • This recipe uses approximately half of a medium-to-large seedless watermelon.
  • The amount of maple syrup should be adjusted based on the natural sweetness of your watermelon; start with 2 tablespoons and add more in 1 tablespoon increments as needed.
  • Maple syrup can be substituted with any other sweetener of your choice.
  • For a fun fizzy twist, replace filtered water with flavored sparkling water.
