This refreshing Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie combines the natural sweetness of watermelon and strawberries with a hint of citrus from freshly squeezed lemon juice. Perfect as a hydrating and fruity beverage, it’s quick to prepare, naturally low in fat, and ideal for a summer day or a healthy snack.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 8 cups cubed watermelon – seedless, fresh or frozen for a frostier smoothie
  • 12 ounces frozen strawberries (about 3 cups)
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 1 lemon or juice of 2 limes)

Optional

  • Sweetener of choice (if fruit isn’t perfectly ripe)
  • 3-5 mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon: Place the cubed watermelon into a blender and blend until smooth, reducing it to approximately 5 cups of juice or puree.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the frozen strawberries and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the blender. Blend again until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
  3. Serve or Store: Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture. Alternatively, refrigerate the smoothie for up to one day; it may lose some of its freshness but will still taste refreshing.

Notes

  • This smoothie tastes best when served right away but can be refrigerated for up to one day without significant loss of quality.
  • For an extra refreshing touch, add 3-5 mint leaves during blending.
  • If your fruit is not very ripe or sweet, you may add a sweetener of your choice such as honey, agave syrup, or sugar to enhance the flavor.
