A quick and flavorful Thai Basil Beef Stir-Fry made with tender ground beef, garlic, chilies, and fresh basil tossed in a savory umami-rich sauce, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 Thai red chilies, finely sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced (optional)
  • Cooked jasmine rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sliced chilies, stirring quickly until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  4. Stir in sliced onion and bell pepper and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
  5. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and beef broth.
  6. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir well. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Turn off the heat and fold in fresh Thai basil leaves until wilted.
  8. Serve immediately over warm jasmine rice.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of chilies to control spice level.
  • Substitute ground chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
  • Serve in lettuce cups or over cauliflower rice for a lower-carb version.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce and oyster sauce if needed.
  • Add fresh basil after reheating leftovers for best flavor.
